Our Verdict
The Bryte Balance Pro is a 15.50″ adjustable mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and foam-encased air cylinders. The air cylinders can be expanded or contracted with more or less air, which gives the mattress its adjustable level of firmness.
The Bryte Balance Pro is available in six firmness levels — soft, medium, medium-firm, slightly firm, and firm. The adjustability ranges from 0 to 100. The 0 has a soft feel (4 out of 10) and the firmest setting, 100, has a firm feel (8 out of 10).
All of our tests in this review were done at firmness level 50. In addition, we took sinkage measurements at all firmness levels. Lastly, all tests were done with the Contour settings + Zone Control turned off. We’ll explain more on these settings below.
This mattress has deep sinkage and very low levels of bounce. These metrics will vary based on what firmness is selected.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.01, ranking the mattress in the top 20% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Bryte Balance Pro is $5,249 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 87% more expensive than the average adjustable mattress. While the price is high, the performance is also fantastic, so you get what you pay for here. The Bryte has one of the most advanced and unique zoned support systems I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a wide firmness range, incredible support features, and quality materials, the Bryte Balance Pro is a strong contender.

How is Bryte Balance Pro Different?
The Bryte Balance Pro is a 15.50″ adjustable mattress with an overall performance level that is well above average, but a price tag that is also significantly above average (87% more than the average adjustable mattress).
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Bryte Balance Pro include better cooling performance, lower levels of motion transfer, fast response time, and exceptional pressure relief.
The good pressure relief score comes from the adjustable firmness, thicker 5.0″ comfort layer, and 15.5″ overall profile. Thicker material layers can be great for overall pressure relief and performance.

Neutral Factors
This mattress has deep levels of sinkage and very low levels of bounce. Both of these factors are considered “neutral” since different sleepers will have different opinions about these factors.
If you’re looking to sleep “on the mattress” and like an active feel, the Bryte will not be the right pick for you. But for deeper body engagement and restrained bounce, the Bryte is a solid option.
Edge support is also a bit of a neutral factor, as it has average performance in this category for both sitting and lying.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of this mattress include a worse sex score and a longer off-gassing duration.
The Bryte Balance Pro comes with a 100-night trial period, which is shorter than the 176-night average trial. The warranty is shorter than average as well.
Lastly, price could be a deal breaker for the Bryte Balance Pro. This mattress is over $5,000 for a queen, making it 87% more expensive than the average adjustable mattress.
Cooling Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
76.0° F
Max. Temp.
90.3° F
Ending Temp.
82.8° F
This mattress is built with 5.0” of comfort foam on top of 7.0” foam encased air cylinders that have a foundational base of support foam.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The air cylinders are beneficial for cooling, as the air just simply isn’t able to absorb or retain much heat.
However, the foam layers on top do absorb some heat, especially the 3.0” of memory foam on top. While these foams are high quality and breathable, it’s still a substantial quantity of foam.
The mattress doesn’t have any type of specialized cooling materials, so while the cooling performance is excellent, it doesn’t rise to that outstanding level of performance.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.3° F. This is 0.3° warmer than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.8 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.0 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.36″ on the 50% firmness setting. This is 0.12″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.24″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.36″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
Body Contour
Dramatic
The level of sinkage (at firmenss level 50) is documented in the images below.

The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug. The Balance Pro is equipped with a thick memory foam layer on top that creates a precise and sharper hug around the body.
All that said, this mattress also creates something of a “wall” as you sink down. Once you hit the adjustable layer, there is a high degree of pushback and an abrupt supportive feel, even on the lower firmness settings.
This is in contrast to mattresses with coil support layers, which create a more gradual supportive transition. Depending on your firmness setting, the sinkage depth will vary slightly.
Below you can see the sinkage depths for different firmness settings:

Motion Transfer Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.98 m/s². This is 32% less motion transfer than the average of 8.78 m/s².
Accel. Range
5.98 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.61 seconds
There are three big reasons why the motion transfer is so low. Firstly, bounce is significantly lower than average at just 5.56” of total bounce height.
Second, this mattress uses a 5.0” comfort layer with 3.0” of memory foam on top. All of that foam absorbs and disperses energy greatly.
And third, the air cylinders don’t transfer as much energy, especially compared to many types of coil units.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.25 seconds. Motion declines thereafter, but remains notable until around 0.5 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

By 0.61 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.27 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Both motion duration and motion intensity is better than average, as a result, I expect most sleepers will find this level of motion transfer more than satisfactory.
Response Test
The Bryte Balance Pro is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a very fast mostly recovered response time and a moderate fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Fully Recovered
1.0 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.11 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.0 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than the average of 1.01 seconds. Most of the material layers within this mattress rebound to shape quickly.
However, we do have a 3.0” memory foam layer on top. That memory foam layer simply takes an extra moment to fully recover to its original shape after it has been compressed.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
If you are very sensitive to material recovery speed, this will be something to consider. That said, for most sleepers, this responsiveness speed should be fast enough not to be a major issue.
Overall, I found ease of movement to be perfectly fine and never felt any type of “stuck” feeling in the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 5.56″. This is 3.19″ less bounce than the average of 8.75″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.13″
Max. Rebound
0.43″
Total Bounce
5.56″
Bounce is lower on this mattress simply because the materials within the design aren’t highly resilient or springy. The 5.0” comfort foam layer on top absorbs and disperses energy greatly, thereby minimizing bounce.
In addition, the air cylinder supports are just not capable of generating significant resilience to create more bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce level is the primary reason that motion transfer on this mattress is so low. However, lower bounce does mean that sex performance is worse, so it’s something you’ll want to consider.
Edge Support Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has excellent sitting edge support and good lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.50″
Lying Support
Good
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.50″. This is 0.43″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions. Notably, this mattress is equipped with reinforced foam edge support along the perimeter of the mattress.
That reinforced perimeter is certainly helping to deliver solid edge performance. Even so, we do see this mattress not rising to the absolute best edge support levels, especially for lying.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

In my view, that limited edge support is in part the result of the downward curvature of materials at the edge of the mattress.
This fact, combined with the 3.0” memory layer, creates a high degree of contour in a place where there just isn’t enough memory foam to fully form to the body, thereby creating a weakening of the edge support.
All that to say, edge support is average, but I think it’s fair to expect it would be better given the high price.
Sex Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has fair sex performance. This mattress has fantastic sex performance in 4 out of 5 test categories, including minimal noise, excellent cooling, and outstanding edge support.

With 3.50” of sitting edge sinkage, the edge support isn’t perfect, but it’s still going to be supportive enough for most couples. All that said, where this mattress struggles for sex is bounce.
With just 5.56” of total bounce height, it’s considerably lower than average. The lack of bounce, especially in combination with the thick 3.0” memory foam layer on top, makes sex more strenuous and tiring, as the mattress just doesn’t work with couples like many other types of mattresses will.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 5.9 | Very Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 9.4 | Excellent |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
When we consider the complete picture of sex performance factors, we find that the Bryte Balance Pro’s sex score is well below average.
Pressure Relief Test
The Bryte Balance Pro has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt zero pressure points on my body. This mattress is exceedingly comfortable to lie on.
Comfort Layer
5.00″
Support Layer
10.50″
The Bryte is equipped with 5.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.70″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.30″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all tests, we make a point to cut the mattress open to examine materials and material quality.

Overall, I’m pleased with what I see. The foams look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand. In addition, the adjustable air bladders feel well-constructed and durable, utilizing high-quality materials.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.43. This is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold I want to see and also much lower than average (average side max PSI is 0.97).
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.10 | 0.39 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.05 | 0.43 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.29 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Bryte Balance Pro had a strong smell upon the initial arrival. The mattress smelled for 9 days. This is 1.8 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.2 days.

How firm is Bryte Balance Pro?
The Bryte Balance Pro has an adjustable level of firmness that includes 11 different firmness ratings from 0% up to 100%, changing by 10% intervals.
At its softest level, this mattress has a Soft feel (4 out of 10 firmness) and at its firmest, the mattress has a firm feel (8 out of 10). The list below shows exactly how firm each individual level is.

Not only can you adjust the firmness of the mattress at large, but you can also control the firmness of 8 individual zones, increasing / decreasing the level of support and firmness of these sections. This can help you achieve proper support and a neutral spinal alignment, which improves pressure relief and comfort.
The Bryte App has a few preset settings within “Contour” mode, where you can select stomach support, shoulder relief, shoulder and hip relief, or lumbar support. You can only have one contour setting active at a time.
Each contour setting adjusts firmness in one or more support zones to create the ideal support setup for that contour. Alternatively, you can also set a custom contour, where you have precise control of the overall 8 zones on the mattress.
This provides you complete control to assign varied firmness levels across the mattress. I have never seen this level of firmness control in a mattress. It is by far the most advanced zoned control support system I’ve tested to date.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Bryte Balance Pro is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 10.5″ support layer. This is 2.59″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 5.00″ |
| Support Layer | 10.50″ |
| Firmness | Soft, Medium, Medium-Firm, Slightly Firm, Firm |
| Body Contour | Dramatic |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
The biggest benefit for support is simply the level of control over the firmness adjustability. The adjustable firmness, overall and within the specific zones, is a huge bonus for superior support.
In addition, the “Contour” settings in the Bryte App allow exceptional targeted support for the following regions: stomach, shoulder, shoulder + hip, or lumbar.
Change one targeted area or change the support dynamic of the whole mattress. Either way, support is fantastic and customizable to better address sensitive areas or pain points.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Bryte Balance Pro is outstanding.

The Cover
The Bryte Balance Pro has a thin cover that is soft and stretchy. There are no handles on the sides of the mattress, which can make it more difficult to rotate the mattress.

At this price point, that’s definitely something I would have liked to have seen, but given the nature of personalized sides, it’s possible that sleepers are less likely to rotate the mattress.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 5.00″ thick and made of three layers of foam. On top, there is a 3.0″ memory foam, followed by two 1.0″ poly foam layers (a blue foam and a yellow foam, yellow not shown below).

Together, these three layers provide a 5.0″ comfort layer, notably thicker than average, which contributes to the mattress’s better pressure relief.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 10.50″ thick and made of foam-encased air cylinders followed by three additional layers of support foam.

Starting with the air cylinders, these are wrapped in a thin foam layer. The image below shows how these cylinders are glued to the 1.0″ poly foam mentioned at the base of the comfort layer.

Below the air cylinders, there are three layers of support foam. Directly below the air cylinders, there is a 1.5″ channel-cut poly foam followed by two 1.0″ layers of support foam.

There is also a perimeter foam that encases all of these inner materials. This foam helps to improve edge support when sitting or lying, and also limits motion transfer.
Product Evolution
Bryte has been around since 2016, but didn’t start shipping smart beds until April 2019. As a company, their focus is on more of the tech side of the mattress market, offering a smart bed, wireless adjustability, and a mobile app with personalized settings, targeted zoned support, and guided meditations.
The mattress itself looks and feels high-quality. As time passes, if the mattress changes, we will be sure to update this section with new changes.
