Our Verdict
Nectar is a classic name in the online mattress space, specializing in memory foam, hybrids, and memory foam hybrids. They also have a kids’ mattress, but that is not included in our comparison today. They stand out from the competition by offering affordable prices, a “forever” warranty, and a full year trial period.
Most Nectar mattresses have a firmness of 5 and 6, medium to medium-firm. These are the most popular options and are suitable for the widest range of sleepers. They offer one soft mattress, rated at a 4, but they don’t have a firm mattress option.
In our tests, all Nectar mattresses earned an average performance score of 8.70, which is a solid level above average (8.53). As for price, an average queen-size Nectar model costs $1,243, which is 17% less expensive than the average mattress we’ve tested to date.
Nectar is an extremely affordable brand that offers fantastic performance for each price tier. And each tier has an all-foam option as well as a hybrid option. Let’s break down how their tiers work:
The Classic Collection represents the most affordable options from the brand, starting at $649 (queen). While being extremely affordable, these mattresses earned average performance scores for a fraction of the price.
The Premier Collection is a slight upgrade, adding an extra inch of memory foam. This led to a noticeable increase in comfort and pressure relief over the previous tier. It’s also a touch softer at a medium firmness rating.
The Luxe Collection adds another inch of memory foam, along with more cooling materials in the cover and memory foam. For a modest jump to $1,249 to $1,399, the luxe models are a no-brainer for extra luxury.
The Ultra Collection represents the thickest, most luxurious sleeping experience from Nectar, and they received the highest performance scores from our tests. Topping off their price at $1,999, the Nectar Ultra or Ultra Hybrid has 4″ of memory foam and the best cooling the brand offers.

Which Mattress Should You Buy?
The mattresses earning the title for “best overall” from each brand have the highest overall performance. Overall performance is determined by scores from 8 different categories, including cooling, motion transfer, response time, edge support, sex performance, pressure relief, off-gassing, and company.
Sinkage and bounce are also taken into consideration, but they are not direct scoring factors.
Among the Nectar mattresses, the top recommendation is the Nectar Ultra Hybrid. This is considering all-foam and hybrid models.
Best Nectar
Nectar Ultra Hybrid

Type: Memory Foam Hybrid
Firmness: Soft (4)
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is a 15″ memory foam hybrid mattress with a 4″ memory foam layer, 2″ poly foam layer, pocketed coils, and a thin support foam base. It has a soft feel with extremely deep sinkage and low bounce. Its 8.99 score ranks it among the top 22% of all mattresses, with a price of $1,999 that’s 35% more expensive than average. Its soft, intense memory foam feel creates a few tradeoffs, but it earned a 10/10 in cooling, pressure relief, and company. This makes it a great option for side sleepers of all body weights.

Firmness
Looking at all available mattresses we’ve tested, Nectar ranges in firmness from 4 to 6 out of 10.
Most Nectar mattresses have a medium to medium-firm feel, and this should be suitable for the vast majority of sleepers. They also offer a soft mattress option, with the Nectar Ultra Hybrid. They do not make a firm mattress.
Check the table below to see the details of each mattress (Nectar all-foam models excluded).
| Firmness | Rating | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 6 | Medium-Firm |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 5 | Medium |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 5 | Medium |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 4 | Soft |
Not sure which firmness you need? Your ideal mattress firmness depends on two major factors—sleeping position and body weight. With the right firmness, your body and spine will maintain proper alignment when sleeping.

Lightweight sleepers or those who sleep on their side tend to need a softer mattress. By comparison, heavier sleepers or those who sleep on their back or stomach tend to need more support and a firmer feel.

Cooling Test
The Nectar mattresses all rely on memory and poly foams in their comfort layers, but they still maintain fantastic cooling performance. As the models increase in price, so does the amount of cooling “tech” that’s included.
Across the four models, Nectar hybrids have an average cooling score of 9.3, with the lowest score at 9.0.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding cooling.
| Cooling Test | Score | Baseline | Max. Temp. | Ending Temp. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 9.0 | 76.3° | 87.7° | 78.7° |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 9.0 | 75.7° | 88.2° | 78.3° |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 9.0 | 74.7° | 90.6° | 82.4° |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 10 | 75.8° | 88.9° | 80.6° |
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (after 5 minutes) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Below, you can watch a video of how the heat dissipates on each mattress during our cooling test. For this test, we lie on the mattress for 15 minutes, get off the mattress, and then take periodic surface-level temperature measurements.
Nectar Hybrid
Nectar Ultra Hybrid
Nectar Premier Hybrid
Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The average cooling score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6
All Nectar hybrid mattresses have better cooling than average. Each model, even the least expensive Nectar Classic Hybrid, has cooling fibers in its cover. Each upgraded model includes more and more of these fibers.
Furthermore, the models using phase-change material as well to draw heat away from the surface when it gets too warm, starting with the Nectar Premier Hybrid. Finally, the Luxe Hybrid and Ultra Hybrid models add copper to the cover to enhance this effect.
In our tests, the cover used on the Nectar Ultra models had an extremely noticeable cool-to-the-touch feel. Despite the thickness of some of these memory foam layers, which are notorious for poor cooling, you need not worry about overheating on the Nectar mattresses.
Sinkage Test
Nectar Hybrids range from deep sinkage to extremely deep sinkage. The four hybrid models have an average sinkage depth of 2.69″.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sinkage.
| Sinkage Test | Sinkage Feel | Sinkage Depth |
|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | Deep | 2.37″ |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | Deep | 2.54″ |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | Very Deep | 2.62″ |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | Extremely Deep | 3.23″ |
The level of sinkage for each mattress is documented in the images below.
Nectar Hybrid

Nectar Ultra Hybrid

Nectar Premier Hybrid

Nectar Luxe Hybrid

For reference, the average sinkage depth across all mattresses tested to date is 2.21″.
Back and stomach sleepers usually prefer less sinkage, which better maintains proper alignment of their spine. While all Nectar Hybrids have above-average sinkage depths, the Nectar Hybrid and Nectar Premier Hybrid are both suitable for back and stomach sleeping.

Generally, side sleepers enjoy a deeper level of sinkage, as that typically translates to better pressure relief and contour. For deeper sinkage, every one of these Nectar hybrids is fantastic for side sleeping, but if you’re looking for the best, opt for the Nectar Luxe Hybrid or Nectar Ultra Hybrid.
The Nectar Hybrid only has 1.00″ of memory foam, so its feel is more balanced than the other models. But the Premier Hybrid, Luxe Hybrid, and Ultra Hybrid all create an unmistakable, dramatic hug around one’s body that only gets more intense the thicker the mattress gets.
Motion Transfer Test
Nectar hybrid mattresses are good at maintaining low motion transfer, but they aren’t much better than average. In fact, the average Nectar hybrid motion transfer score is 8.3.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding motion transfer.
| Motion Transfer Test | Score | Acc. Range |
|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.2 | 8.93 m/s² |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 8.2 | 8.94 m/s² |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 8.1 | 9.18 m/s² |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 8.6 | 8.22 m/s² |
The level of motion transfer on each mattress is also documented in the videos below.
Nectar Hybrid
Nectar Ultra Hybrid
Nectar Premier Hybrid
Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The average motion transfer score across all mattresses tested to date (over 400 to date) is 8.2.
So by this measure, Nectar is barely squeaking by with above-average motion transfer performance. The absolute lowest motion we measured was on the Nectar Ultra Hybrid, with its 4.00″ of memory foam in its comfort layer.
Memory foam is typically a good material to dissipate motion and keep it from traveling through the mattress. However, being hybrids, these models all have coil units that are less ideal for isolating motion.

Furthermore, the thin, knit covers are sometimes prone to pulling towards sinking objects, thus disturbing sleepers that way. This issue is exacerbated with increased sinkage depths, as we see on these models.
All this to say, we may have expected lower motion transfer from a brand known for its memory foam. However, these issues balance out to perfectly acceptable levels of motion that should be suitable for most sleepers sharing a bed.
Response Test
Now let’s talk about response time, an area that many memory foam mattresses tend to struggle with. The Nectar hybrids are much faster to respond than you may expect.
Across its price tiers, the Nectar Hybrids averaged a response time score of 8.4, with the lowest at 7.8 and the highest at 9.0.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding response.
| Response Test | Score | Mostly Recovered | Completely Recovered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.0 | 0.5 seconds | 1.1 seconds |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 7.8 | 0.5 seconds | 1.3 seconds |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 9.0 | 0.3 seconds | 1.0 seconds |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 8.7 | 0.4 seconds | 0.8 seconds |
The level of responsiveness for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
Nectar Hybrid
Nectar Ultra Hybrid
Nectar Premier Hybrid
Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The average response score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.8. Compared to this, Nectar is slightly slower than the average. However, the video below is an example of how slow some traditional memory foam mattresses can be.
By comparing these clips, it’s obvious that Nectar has designed a modern memory foam capable of fast response times, even if they don’t quite reach the instant speed of other materials.
Finally, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and Nectar Ultra Hybrid are both noticeably quicker than the cheaper models, and should offset any sort of stuck feeling you may otherwise get from their deep sinkage.
Bounce Test
Next, let’s talk about bounce. When it comes to the Nectar Hybrid models, the more memory foam used in their design equates to lower bounce.
On average, we measured a bounce height of 7.68″ across their four models. This isn’t terrible, but it certainly leans towards the low end compared to other mattresses.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding bounce.
| Bounce Test | Bounce Feel | Bounce Height |
|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | Moderate | 9.87″ |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | Low | 7.41″ |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | Low | 7.27″ |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | Low | 6.18″ |
The level of bounce for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
Nectar Hybrid
Nectar Ultra Hybrid
Nectar Premier Hybrid
Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The average bounce across all mattresses tested to date is 8.74″.
So, only the Nectar Hybrid, with the highest recorded bounce height of 9.87″, has an above-average level of bounce. The coil unit under the 3″ of foam material is being engaged for more rebound compared to the thicker models.
The Nectar Premier Hybrid and Luxe Hybrid mattresses are both slightly lower than average, and sleepers will notice a more cozy, deader feel compared to a more traditional coil mattress.

Certainly, the Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a less lively surface that is readily apparent as you shift positions or move in and out of it.
Mattresses with more bounce are better for ease of movement and increase sex performance. However, higher bounce also typically creates a higher level of motion transfer. So there are pros and cons when it comes to bounce.
Edge Support Test
When it comes to edge support, we measure the compression while sitting at the side of each mattress and assess the support while lying directly on the edge.
Nectar models are worse than average when it comes to edge support, and this is another category where we measured worse performance with the more memory foam used in their design.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding edge support.
| Edge Support Test | Score | Sitting Sinkage | Lying Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.7 | 4.25″ | Excellent |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 7.8 | 5.75″ | Excellent |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 7.8 | 5.75″ | Excellent |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 7.3 | 5.75″ | Good |
The level of edge support is documented in the images below.
Nectar Hybrid

Nectar Ultra Hybrid

Nectar Premier Hybrid

Nectar Luxe Hybrid

The average edge support score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.7. The 4 Nectar Hybrid models averaged an edge support score of 7.9, which is quite a bit worse.
The highest-performing Nectar Hybrid for edge support was the Nectar (Classic) Hybrid, only tying with our sitewide average.

All of these models have two rows of reinforced edge coils that are a thicker gauge than the rest of the coil unit in order to prevent collapse. We certainly don’t see a full collapse on any of these models, but the compression on the edge is unmistakable.
On the bright side, we found lying support to be excellent on all models but the Nectar Ultra Hybrid. At the very least, you should feel secure when your starfishing partner forces you to the outskirts of your bed during the night.
Sex Test
Our sex scores are derived using a weighted formula that includes bounce, edge support, noise, pressure relief, and cooling performance.
Nectar Hybrids are not among the best mattresses when it comes to sex, but they earned a fair sex performance rating on average. Across their four hybrid models, Nectar earned an average sex score of 7.6.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sex.
| Sex Test | Sex Score | Bounce | Edge Support | Noise | Pressure Relief | Cooling |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.7 | 8.7 | 8.4 | 10 | 8.0 | 9.0 |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 7.3 | 7.1 | 6.6 | 10 | 9.0 | 9.0 |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 7.3 | 7.0 | 6.6 | 10 | 10 | 9.0 |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 6.9 | 6.3 | 6.6 | 10 | 10 | 10 |
The average sex score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.2, making the Nectar Hybrids a solid notch below average when it comes to sex.
Because bounce is 60% of the weighted sex formula, it’s not hard to see why. The only mattress with above-average sex performance is the Nectar (Classic) Hybrid, as it checks off most of the boxes we’re looking for. It doesn’t quite excel in any of these categories, but it is the best Nectar mattress for sex.

The other mattresses will simply require more energy to keep the dance without pants going, and not be as safe to incorporate the use of their edge without some fear of sliding off.
Even the Nectar Ultra Hybrid, which earned perfect 10s in the other three categories, is still severely limited by its bounce and poor sitting edge support.
Pressure Relief Test
When it comes to pressure relief, the Nectar Hybrid mattress can truly shine, as this is the payoff for using thick memory foam layers.
Especially given their price points, we see fantastic performance across the board. On average, the Nectar Hybrid models earned a pressure relief score of 9.3.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding pressure relief.
| Pressure Relief Test | Score | Comfort Layer | Support Layer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.0 | 3.00″ | 9.00″ |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 9.0 | 4.00″ | 9.00″ |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 10 | 5.00″ | 8.50″ |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 10 | 6.00″ | 9.00″ |
The average pressure relief score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6. Only the Nectar Classic Hybrid does not outperform this average score. And at $799 for a queen-size, this 8.0 pressure relief score is fantastic.
For just a little extra money, the Nectar Premier Hybrid ($1,099) offers excellent pressure relief with double the amount of memory foam used in the Classic model.
Notably, the Nectar Classic, Premier, or Luxe models do not use zoned support. But the Ultra models do. This is done by replacing the center third of the poly foam layer with a firmer feel to provide more pushback where the body sinks down the most. This creates a more neutral spinal alignment, something essential for good pressure relief.
The materials included in each mattress are documented in the images below.
Nectar Hybrid

Nectar Ultra Hybrid

Nectar Premier Hybrid

Nectar Luxe Hybrid

The best Nectar hybrid for pressure relief is the Nectar Ultra Hybrid, which earned a perfect score. In our tests, I felt no pressure point build up whatsoever, and the mattress was exceptionally comfortable throughout my testing experience.
Bigger doesn’t always mean better. Certainly, the quality of materials, gradual transition from comfort and support, and the zoned support all contribute to a top-tier sleeping experience.
With these scores, any of these Nectar hybrid models should be more than suitable for most sleepers. But those looking for luxury should go with the Ultra Hybrid.
Off-Gassing Test
To score off-gassing, we assess the strength of the smell upon the initial unboxing of a mattress and measure the time it takes before that smell is no longer present. Nectar mattresses all have a strong smell initially, but they have a reasonable smell duration.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding off-gassing.
| Off-Gassing Test | Score | Initial Smell | Smell Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar Hybrid | 8.3 | Strong | 6 days |
| Nectar Premier Hybrid | 8.1 | Strong | 7 days |
| Nectar Luxe Hybrid | 8.6 | Strong | 5 days |
| Nectar Ultra Hybrid | 8.1 | Strong | 7 days |
The average smell duration across all mattresses tested to date is 7.13 days.
Based on this, the Nectar models are slightly quicker than average to stop smelling. If you’re particularly sensitive to synthetic odors, you could go with the Luxe Hybrid, which we found to have the fastest off-gassing period.
However, these times aren’t so different to recommend basing your final mattress decision on. If you truly cannot stand the polyurethane smell, you can wait out this off-gassing period by putting it in another room of your house. After a week, it should be free of any offensive odors.
Company
Finally, Nectar is a fantastic company for its consumer-friendly policies.
They offer a 365-night trial period, a lifetime warranty, free shipping, and free returns. Nectar also manufacture their mattresses in the USA.
