How Do I Clean a Sealy Mattress Cover?

Derek Hales

Updated

The best way to clean a Sealy mattress cover is to spot clean trouble areas or vacuum the mattress for more regular maintenance.

Armed with a damp cloth, here are a few other supplies that can help to clean a Sealy mattress cover:

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Liquid dish detergent
  • Enzymatic cleaners
  • Table salt
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Spray bottles and bowls
  • Essential oils (optional)

The basic steps include removing the bedding, vacuuming the surface, wetting a cloth to dampen the area with one of the above cleaners, using a blotting method instead of a rubbing/smearing, and wiping the area a few times with a separate wetted cloth to finish. Allow time for the mattress to dry before replacing bedding.

Every Sealy mattress we’ve tested here at Naplab does not have a removable cover to allow for machine washing.

In the case of these covers, we advise using this cleaning method. Furthermore, you can prevent the need to wash your mattress as often by using a mattress protector.
