Kayla Hein is our Creative Director. She is tasked with the design, layout, and branding of both NapLab.com and the physical spaces of our studio and testing areas.
In addition, Hein also works as a writer and editor. She leads our content development process. Kayla is responsible for helping to bring to life almost every review, comparison, best list, and educational article site-wide.

Experience & Background
Kayla Hein has a wide range of project types in her portfolio including years of professional design experience and content writing.
Her design background starts upon graduation from Kansas State University in 2014 with a master’s degree in Interior Architecture and Product Design.
From there, she relocated to Oklahoma and worked with a local architecture firm for over 7 years designing projects, from single-room renovations up to multi-million dollar campuses.
She has worked in commercial design, residential design, furniture design, graphic design, and years of custom wayfinding and signage design.
Her content writing background spans decades of writing projects, but more recently she has 8 years of full-time content writing history. From 2016-2017, Hein worked as a content writer for Sleepopolis.com, the first cooperative project where she teamed up with Derek Hales, writing product reviews, sleep education pieces, and head-to-head comparisons.
From 2017-2021, Derek and Kayla continued their collaboration on ModernCastle.com, a platform that tests and reviews products for home.
In August 2021, she made the shift back to the sleep industry when NapLab was founded. NapLab utilizes her background in the sleep industry as well as her years in the design industry for content that is written with real homes in mind.

Personal Life
Hein lives with her husband, 3 young children, and two dogs in the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her hobbies include micro-homesteading, cooking with her kids, 3D digital modeling, and late-night true crime audiobooks or Netflix documentaries.
Also coffee, if coffee counts as a hobby, that would definitely make the list. Her favorite coffee is a vanilla cream cold brew or a hot white chocolate mocha.
